#NH #Progressives 4 #Justice Open Letter To All NH Candidates For Office

Open Letter To All NH Candidates For Office To the Editor: We are a non-partisan group that advocates for social, economic, environmental, and political justice. We support candidates who commit to issues that benefit N.H. communities through justice and caring.

N.H. has the highest rates of bladder, breast, esophageal, and pediatric cancer in the nation. We cannot turn our backs on people who are sick and dying with cancer and chronic illness. Everyone deserves high-quality, affordable health care without fear of ruin. We believe in Medicare for all. It would save money and provide dignity, caring, and respect.

The recent IPCC report concluded that “we are already seeing the consequences of 1°C of global warming through more extreme weather, rising sea levels and diminishing Arctic sea ice, among other changes.” We must immediately and boldly commit to making rapid, far-reaching policy changes to replace fossil fuel and nuclear-based energy with 100 percent renewable and sustainable energy sources by 2035. We want leaders who do not take money from and are not beholden to fossil fuel industry lobbyists.

We must end senseless violence in our communities. Suicide from guns is taking too many lives; the mental healthcare system in N.H. demands attention. We want you to refuse money from the gun lobby and support evidence-based approaches to prevent gun violence.

We are paying attention to what you say and how you vote. We would like to work with you. You must earn our support.

Rep. Mindi Messmer, Bob Ehlers, Hon. Ken Grossman, Annie Robbins, Dave Vroom, Dick Bednar, Stan Freeda, Lucy Edwards and John Raeder  NH Progressives for Justice
