I can speak for other victims of gun violence: It brings them back to
that one moment when they learned that someone in their family was
either killed or severely wounded. I think that's the hardest part of
this job, because it brings you back.
And those are memories—you get on with your lives, and we do. It's
very, very painful, and we know what these families are going to go
through. It hits at our heart and our mind, and also takes another
